Walker's 1962 Incorporation After 125 Years as a Township
Walker Township organized December 30, 1837 as Kent County's second township, covering all land north of the Grand River and first settled that year by Samuel and Lydia White. It stayed a township until renewed pressure to annex its industrial land led to incorporation as a city on November 8, 1962.
